Ask open questions about real situations. How someone describes what they did last time tells you more than "yes" or "no".

For everyone

  • Tell me about a similar job you've had. What did a typical day look like?
  • What do you do if you're running late or sick?
  • What would you do if you broke something?
  • What questions do you have for me?

Childcare

  • How do you handle a child who won't listen?
  • What would you do if a child had an allergic reaction?
  • Are you CPR and first aid certified, and when did you last renew?

Cleaning and home care

  • Which products do you prefer, and are there any you won't use?
  • How do you handle fragile or valuable items?

Pet care

  • How would you handle a dog that slips its leash?
  • What signs would make you call a vet?
